Accept payments
Customers pay you from their Yehulu wallet by scanning your QR code or typing your merchant code.
Your merchant QR
- Find it under Merchant QR in the portal. Download it as an image or Print it with your business name and merchant code underneath, and display it at the till.
- The QR follows the Ethiopian interoperable QR format and carries a signed reference to your merchant account only.
- Customers who can't scan can type your merchant code instead. It reaches the same account.
Replacing your QR
Generate a new QR if a printed one was copied or misused. Every QR printed before stops working at once, so print and display the new one straight away.
How a customer pays
- Scan or typeIn the Yehulu wallet the customer opens Payments → Pay a merchant and scans your QR, or types your code. They see your display name, so they know who they're paying.
- Enter the amountThe customer types the amount. They pay exactly that amount; your fee comes out of what you receive.
- Confirm with their PINYehulu checks your account is active and the customer has the balance and limits. If anything fails, no money moves.
- Both sides confirmedThe customer gets a receipt. You get a Payment received notification and the payment appears in Transactions.
Where the money goes
The amount, less your fee, lands in your merchant wallet immediately. You don't spend from that wallet: every night it's paid out to your bank account. See Settlement & payouts.
When a payment can't go through
- Your account is suspended or deactivated: customers see that you're not accepting payments.
- The customer's balance, daily limit or verification level doesn't allow it.
- The customer entered the wrong PIN.
